William Nix is also Chairman of the Creative Projects Group, which operates as a creative incubator for the development and production of motion pictures, television programs, music, interactive videogames, live entertainment, multimedia installations and events. He is the Producer of Gibran, a biographical dramatic feature film based on the life and work of Kahlil Gibran. The film is currently in pre-production development. Nix is also serving as producer of a related multicity tour of an art exhibit featuring Gibran’s paintings and drawings, for which an accompanying art book will be curated
and released by the prestigious Skira Rizzoli publishing house.

Nix is also Executive Producer for the “globally collaborative” animated feature of Kahlil Gibran’s iconic work The Prophet. Currently in production, the film taps the creative talents of Oscar- and other award-winning animators, narrators, composers and musicians. The creative team is led by the Oscar-nominated Director Roger Allers (The Lion King), who was also involved in story development of the Disney hits Oliver & Company, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Emperor’s New Groove. Salma Hayek, Clark Peterson and Ron Senkowski are serving as the Producers of the Gibran film. In collaboration with Composer/Producer Odette Springer, Nix is developing an Internet-based transmedia production currently entitled Voice of the Child. The work will gather children’s individual and collective voices on film and in song in order to show their perspectives, wisdom and power to heal the world. He also is developing several multimedia installations and event projects, including Fluid Experience with celebrated photographer Matthew Jordan Smith as Creative Director. Working with ragtime virtuoso Terry Waldo and an advisory board, Nix is Executive Producer of This is Ragtime: The Birth of American Music, a documentary developed for PBS, as well as a ten-part cable television documentary series Rag to Rock: The Golden Age of American Music and a biographical feature film about legendary pianist/composer Jelly Roll Morton. Nix is serving in the same capacity for Road to Houston, a television series currently in development.

Previously, Nix was the Executive Producer of Firedancer, a dramatic feature film about the Afghan Diaspora in the U.S, and the first Afghan feature film to be submitted for Oscar consideration. The film had its world premiere in Kabul and its U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. He also was Executive Producer of the companion documentary Return to Afghanistan, which premiered at the U.N. Film Festival in New York. He was both production counsel and Executive Producer for the Spanish language documentary feature ¡Ya Basta!, about the abduction phenomenon in Mexico, which premiered at SXSW.

Nix is an executive and attorney with extensive experience in corporate formation, operations and business affairs, as well as being an experienced litigator and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner with substantial expertise in the entertainment, media, sports, intellectual property and creativity fields. He served as Co-Chair of Baker Botts LLP’s Entertainment, Media and Sports Practice Group, as VP of Legal and Business Affairs for NBA Properties and as Senior Vice-President & COO of the network of nearly 2,000 employees and representatives of the Motion Picture Association of America’s global Content Protection Group. Additionally, Nix has worked closely with Internet/software businesses as a strategist and operational advisor for many years. He has a Master’s degree in History/Teaching and has taught in the public schools of Washington, DC as well as graduate level law school and other domestic and international courses as a regular professional panelist. Nix has published, lectured and been widely interviewed on television, radio and in print. A lifetime voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Science (ATAS), the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (NARAS), the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS), Nix actively serves on Award Nominating Screening Juries for both the International Documentary Association (IDA) and AMPAS.
